2 Welcome RFID i Danmark 2016 Conference Wireless Identification and the Internet of Things Implementation of tracking and tracing technologies typically by the use of Wireless Identification have already increased efficiency and competitiveness for a number of companies, in Denmark and around the world. But, most companies private as well as public haven t even started yet. We want to change this by making the possibilities, opportunities and successful implementations known to more organizations. This is why we organize the annual RFID i Danmark conference now for the 6th time. Over the years we have learned that RFID is too narrow and too technical to attract many of the people we want to attend the conference. All the wireless technologies used for Identification and Automatic Data Capture are covered at the conference which is why we have changed from the term RFID to Wireless Identification. And this year we are focusing on Internet of Things visions, projects and how Wireless Identification and Automatic Data Capture play a significant role. Our focus is not on the technologies but rather on the Business cases, the projects, processes and people; Why did the companies implement tracking and tracing technology? Have significant advantages been achieved? How could they justify the initial investment? What Lessons learned during the implementation of tracking and tracing? These factors are maintained by using SOPs (Standard Operating Procedures) and being in GMP (Good Manufacturing Practice) compliance. Contemporary documentation for many companies remain signed documents which simply state that, employees have to uphold certain rules and regulations. This does not ensure that employees actually uphold these rules, hence the need of a system that can provide proper documentation of behavior and hygiene. 8 IoT/RFID in Retail Workshop Retail Workshop IoT/RFID technologies are around the world transforming the way Retailers are running their business. In e-business you have complete transparency with collected data on customers behavior, history and preferences. A situation we are only just dreaming of in physical retail stores however, which relatively easy could be achieved by implementing new technologies. An increasing number of retailers have started using new technologies to recognise customers in-store and analysing how they engage with brands in a shop. With the growing uptake of smart utilities devices in the home, there is evidence that consumers are growing in confidence when it comes to using connected technologies for every-day processes. The IoT/RFID in Retail session will have its focus on international cases and best practises, technological opportunities and actual benefits gained by implementing IoT/RFID. One of the keynote speakers of the Conference, Mark Thomson, will share more of his knowledge with us hence the session will be in English. More detailed agenda will follow. The Workshop is organized by GS1 Denmark, Zebra Technologies, Teknologisk Institut and RFID i Danmark.

9 Smart Products Workshop (in Danish) Teknologier til smarte produkter Centrale teknologier i udviklingen af smarte produkter: Smarte produkter er kendetegnet ved, at eksisterende og nye produkttyper udvides med it, sensorer, netværkskommunikation og softwareteknologier. De kommer på nettet, har positionering og tracking indbygget, sender data om deres tilstand og kan opgraderes med ny software over nettet ligesom produkterne kan betjenes på afstand fra computere, tablets og telefoner. De smarte produkter integreres i større økosystem af sammenhængende produkter, der kan arbejde sammen, monitoreres, kontrolleres, optimeres i såkaldte product clouds. Product cloud den digitale infrastruktur, v/ Jakob Langdal, Senior Software Architect, PhD, Alexandra Instituttet En product cloud består af netværksforbundne services i skyen, som samler data op fra produkter og kan sende kontrolkommandoer og data tilbage til produkterne og deres brugere, f.eks. via apps. Når smarte produkter kobles til internettet, kan dele af produktets funktionalitet endvidere flyttes til en product cloud. De forskellige trade-offs ved en sådan funktionsarbejdsdeling kræver analyser og viden om arkitekturerne. Jakob giver eksempler på eksisterende product cloud platform og de bagvedliggende arkitekturer, herunder skalérbarhed, interoperabillitet, protokol- og datastandarder. Mange danske virksomheder har indlejret elektronik i deres produkter, men meget få af dem har taget det fulde skridt med at tilføje netværksbaserede services i skyen. Netværksforbindelse (connectivity) og indførelsen af en internet-tankegang, hvor produkter forbindes til en product cloud, kan give helt nye funktioner og services. En vigtig faktor i udvikling af smart produkter er, hvordan produkterne forbindes til internettet. Jesper giver eksempler på eksisterende og kommende kommunikationsstandarder og de fordel og ulemper de hver især præsentere. Prototyping af smart produkter v/ Alexandre Alapetite, Senior Software/ICT Engineer, PhD, Alexandra Instituttet Virksomheder der vil gentænke traditionelle produkter som smarte produkter må forstå, udnytte og udvikle nye teknologier, der kobler fysiske funktioner med it-funktionalitet. Muligheden for at kunne afprøve nye designs og interaktionskoncepter igennem prototyper er en vigtig konkurrenceparameter. Alexandre giver en introduktion til sensorplatforme, der muliggør prototyping og eksempler på hvordan disse kan bruges i praksis. Oplæggene tager udgangspunkt i hvordan Alexandra Instituttet A/S arbejder med smarte produkter og innovation af nye funktioner og service. Alexandra Instituttet har netop igangsat et treårig projekt med fokus på udviklingen af smarte produkter og tilbyder i denne sammenhæng samarbejdsprojekter med danske virksomheder omkring. 10 IoT/RFID i Dansk Detailhandel (in Danish) RFID i dansk detailhandel Nye teknologiske muligheder og kundernes forventning om relevans på tværs af kanaler stiller stadig større krav om en transformation af måden, der drives detailhandel på. I USA, Asien og flere europæiske lande findes mange gode eksempler på detailhandelsvirksomheder, der har opnået signifikante fordele gennem indførelse af IoT/RFID-teknologier men hvor er de gode danske eksempler? I e-handelen er der på grund af de store mængder tilgængelige data en fuldstændig transparens i kundernes adfærd, historik og præferencer. Viden der giver en værdifuld indsigt og dermed mulighed for kundetilpassede løsninger. Muligheder vi fortsat kun drømmer om i den fysiske detailhandel, men som relativt enkelt kan opnås gennem anvendelsen af teknologi. På sidste års konference præsenterede Hans Petter Hübert, hvordan Moods of Norway ikke kun anvender RFID teknologi til hurtigere og mere akkurat lageroptælling, men desuden udnytter teknologien til indsamling af data og til at forbedre kundeoplevelsen i butikken fx det intelligente spejl, der kan vise, hvordan kunden ser ud i det tøj, hun har taget med ind i omklædningsrummet. Gennem forbrugernes stigende ibrugtagning af smarte produkter bl.a. i hjemmet har vi fået bevist, at forbrugere har tillid til anvendelsen af teknologi, der automatisk kommunikerer over Internettet. Metoder og værktøjer til privacybeskyttelse findes også nu, så lad os få mere gang i udviklingen i detailhandelen i Danmark. Workshoppen vil koncentrere sig fuldstændigt om detailhandelen i Danmark. Gennem et par konkrete danske cases og fælles diskussioner, vil vi forsøge at komme tættere på at få identificeret hvad der skal til, for at vi får gang i digitaliseringen af dansk detailhandel. Vi håber at anden del bliver meget interaktiv at mange fra detailhandelsvirksomheder vil deltage, og at de vil blande sig i debatten. Mere detaljeret agenda følger. Det vil være en god idé for deltagerne også at deltage i den tidligere Break-Out session, der hedder IoT/RFID in Retail. Workshoppen arrangeres af IBIZ Center, GS1 Denmark og Teknologisk Institut. Vi ser et stort potentiale i at få gang i dansk detailhandels anvendelse af moderne teknologier. Formålet med denne workshop er derfor at samle de danske frontløbere inden for detailhandel, teknologi-leverandører og dataanalyse med henblik på at skabe flere historier som Moods of Norway i dansk detailhandel.

It could be logistics, traceability, production, retail, health care etc. Community building today can happen effectively even though all activity happens on the internet. A great supplement to this is still meeting in person, seminars, company visits etc. At RFID i Danmark we work with a combination of virtual and physical networking.
