CR 12949:2003 (E) 1 Scope This CEN Report gives names, descriptions, and the minimum information which may be provided for some fertilizers not included in EC regulations, but which are allowed to be traded in individual markets in the European area. 2 Normative references This CEN Report incorporates by dated or undated reference, provisions from other publications. These references are cited at the appropriate places in the text and the publications are listed hereafter. For dated references, subsequent amendments to or revisions of any of these publications apply to this CEN Report only when incorporated in it by amendment or revision. EN 12944 (all parts), Fertilizers and liming materials Vocabulary. 3 Terms and definitions For the purpose of this CEN report the terms and definitions given in EN 12944 (all parts) apply. 4 Product names, description and minimum information The content of nutrient(s) is expressed by mass fraction (m/m) in percent of the fertilizer. No coating material or additive shall be used which increases the sensitivity of ammonium nitrate containing fertilizers, or conflicts with already existing regulations related to content of organic matter and additives. 5 Inorganic nitrogenous, phosphatic and potassic fertilizers See tables 1 to 3 Table 1 Inorganic nitrogenous fertilizers No. Product name Description 1 Calcium nitrate Urea Product containing as its essential ingredients urea (carbamide) and calcium nitrate with a total nitrogen content of at least 30 %, and with a minimum nitric nitrogen content of 6 % a maximum ammoniacal nitrogen content of 0,8 %,and a maximum biuret content of ureic N x 0,026. 2a Sulfur coated urea Coated product containing as its essential ingredient urea (carbamide) and sulfur as coating material which modifies its nutrient release characteristics with a ureic nitrogen content of at least 30 %, a maximum biuret content of ureic N x 0,026, and a minimum content of sulfur of 10 %.
