3 Welcome to Silkeborg In the month of March 2013 a small group of people sat in a tiny attic room in Aalborg, exchanging ideas on the upcoming Drama Boreale in Denmark. And when I look at my messy desk top in the summer of 2015, I try to recall what we have been doing in the mean-time. Actually quite a lot: We have been cooperating with numerous organizations and peers, in Denmark and in the Nordic countries, to get here. We have obtained proposals from the Nordic countries, and we have tried to meet a huge variety of ideas and interests. The Municipality of Silkeborg has been a key player, and we have received a very important donation from Nordic Cultural Fund. As time has gone by, we have had to address an ever increasing flow of issues. We have lost count of the times there was a need for changes and adjustments. We can t thank enough the numerous people that have contributed to the planning. And now we just hope that everything will turn out as intended. We are proud to present a strong palette of the main presenters (keynotes) and a rich array of other presenters from the prolonged labs and demonstrations to the shorter presentations. We are pretty satisfied with the framework for the conference. The five sites are welcoming and efficient for our activities. On behalf of the steering committee, organizations and other partners, I welcome you to five days to explore, express and exchange. Kim Jerg Head of DB15 Welcome to Drama Boreale 2015 This is the 8th Nordic conference on drama, theatre and education. We welcome you to 5 days of exploring, expressing and exchanging. Drama Boreale 2015 will explore cultural and artistic theatrical processes and expressions in pedagogical frameworks in a Nordic perspective, and we ask: How do we describe, develop and communicate about our practice the artistic, the pedagogical and in research? How do we involve the participants and decision makers in this development? Where do we collect material and food for thought for contemporary experiments with arts and learning inside and outside the educational institutions? For five days we will be exchanging perspectives and methods, demonstrating and discussing how we work with material in practice, in theory, in research and in exchanges between these positions and how we describe our practices, internally and externally. The aim is to strengthen the education of professionals with drama and theatre as a subject and/or profession. At the same time she notes that in relation to the Nordic countries there has not been done much to develop creative, innovative and communicative skills. The challenge is that in the drama and theater sphere educational responses are still being sought to legitimate and integrate the value-in-itself-ness that characterizes paradigms in aesthetic and artistic learning-processes. Til demonstrationen gives en kort beskrivelse af Viewpoints som metode og hvordan man kan anvende musik som medspiller i arbejdet med udviklingshæmmede. The workshop will focus on how to give vulnerable young people more selfconfidence through applied drama. Participants will be asked to do group activities and reflect on practice. Artbased-methods and drama are used to discover memories. In the process participants of Teacher and PhD student, Theatre Arts/ Helsinki University Marjatta certain age group go together in groups to discuss various things that occurred during their Karkkulainen & Anneli Luoma- Kuikka - Drama practitioners youth and their childhood. In the workshop participants share their memories in a Scandinavian context. Are memories alike everywhere? Kerstin Bragby and Åse E Bjurström both explore the interconnection of Learning - Agency - Social Change, in providing new educational environments. In the light of Mikhail Bakhtin s concept of dialogue, the project examines the whole-class dialogue in fiction as it is described in selected publications from the professional drama education literature. Hensikten har vært å forrykke, forvandle, forundre og skape nye meninger for aktør og tilskuer i en utforskende devising-praksis. We will introduce a theater pedagogical concept, based on classical taste aesthetics and the aesthetic taster. Then we'll explain a performance theater concept based on taste aesthetics, and open a practical laboratory where taste directs our common theatrical processes and our reflections upon it. 13:30-17:00 DEMONSTRATION DEN KREATIVE SKOLE, DANSESAL Exploration of Voices from Within and Without (No/Dk- Ellen Foyn Bruun - Dramatherapist, Certified Fitzmaurice Teacher and Associate Professor at the Norwegian University of Science and Technology NTNU. David Keir Wright - Independent Drama Practitioner- Researcher, an Associate Member of the Roy Hart International Arts Association and an Individual Associate Member of IDEA. In this experiential workshop participants are invited to explore individually and collectively their unique voices in improvisations, sound-making and singing. The workshop will demonstrate ways of integrating movement, drama and voice. The practice is inspired by the voicework of Alfred Wolfsohn/Roy Hart and Fitzmaurice voicework. What can we learn from each other? Is there any current Nordic research in this area? Can we create a Nordic network for exchanging experiences and developing methods in this field? Serious violation of minority groups happens. Jews, Roma, Muslims, blacks, homosexuals are exposed to discrimination, in and outside schools, among young people and adults. It also takes place online. When my book "Equal and Unique. Drama in Education about Minorities" appeared six years ago, the climate in society was different.
