4 NationalApprenticeshipPromotionScheme(NAPS) SincethelaunchofSkilIndiamission,MinistryofSkilDevelopment& Entrepreneurship (MSDE)hasmadesignificantamendmentstotheApprenticesAct1961,makingiteasier fortheindustrytohireapprentices.tofurthercatalyseapprenticeshiptrainingacross diferentsectors,msdelaunchednaps.theprogram directlyincentivizescorporates,to train and hire apprentices,through reimbursementof25% stipend permonth per apprentice,maximum uptors.1500/-perapprentice.withthisscheme,establishments cannow engageapprenticesinabandof2.5% to10% ofthetotalmanpowerstrengthof the establishment. ASDC is organising workshops with SIAM, ACMA, FADA committees/membersforskilingaided CapitalCreation,which in turn would lead to highereconomicactivity. RecognitionofPriorLearning Type4:(RPL-4) While there isan urgentneed forskiltraining acrossthe country,the absence of suficienttrainingavenuespreventspeoplefrom acquiringskilstrainingandcertification throughformalchannels. Asaresult,mostoftheskilacquisitiontakesplacethroughinformalchannelssuchas family occupation,on-the-job training undermastercraftsman,etc.these skils go unrecognized astheyarenotacquired through formalmeansand areneverformaly recognized. Thispreventssome sectionsofskiled workforce from accessingformalemployment opportunities,utilizingtheirexperienceto furthertakingup educationalcoursesand benefittingfrom othercareerprogressionopportunitiesavailablethroughformaltraining system. 5 TrainingofTrainers: ContinuingitsfocusontheveryimportantareaofqualityoftheTrainers,ASDCconducted 7TOTprogrammes,training139Trainersduringtheperiodunderreview,inKerala,Tamil Nadu,Sikkim andmadhyapradesh.thisasdcinitiativeisbeingspearheadedbymrarun Atal forthemanufacturingdomain,mrsanjeevtiwariforthesalesdomain,mrvinod DiwedifortheServicedomainandMrArunLakhsmanfortheDrivingdomain. ASDCinitiativeofSkilinginHigherEducation: Readerswould recalthatasdc hasbeen making eforts towards furthering the colaboration between industry and academia through skilinterventions for making Skils aspirationaland integrated with academic pathways, towards appropriatecareerpathways. InInthissense,acquiringacertainvocational skilisnotanendinitselfbutthebeginning of an aspirational career/journey which whenintegratedwithvocationalskilsbased AcademicPathwayswilfacilitaterealisea higherpurposeandlife scaling.

6 IndiaSkilsCompetition: ThejourneyofWorldSkilsCompetition-2019(WSC)startedfrom January,2018withaseries ofworkshopsconductedbyasdcforthecapacitybuildingofthevariousstates. Altheregionalcompetitionsfinalyledto IndiaSkilsNationalCompetition-2018 from 2nd to6thoctober,2018ataerocitygrounds,new Delhi.IndiaSkilsNationalswitnessed400+ Competitors representing 27 participating States across 45 Skilcategories,including 4 automotive skils,automobile Technology,Autobody Repair,Car Painting & Prototype Modeling. ASDC scross-functionalteam (CFT)jurymembersfrom alacrosstheindustrysuchasmaruti Suzuki,TataMotors,Mahindra& Mahindra,Toyota,Hyundai,Renault,AkzoNobel,Axalta, BASF,PPG AsianPaints,NipponPaints,Car-o-linerworkedtirelesslytowardstheobjectiveof shortlistingthebestcandidatestorepresentindiaatwsc-2019kazan. Mr. Tushar Phadhatare from Maharashtra (Tata Motors)bagged the GoldintheAutomobileTechnologySkil Category,Mr.Surajfrom Uttarakhand (MarutiSuzuki)wontheAutobodyRepair competitions,mr.govindkumarsonkar from UttarPradesh(MarutiSuzuki)won thegoldincarpaintingcategoryandmr. Abhishek AN from Karnataka (Toyota) toppedtheprototypemodelingcategory.
