13 The challenge of providing indoor mobile broadband? Conclusions Outdoor to Indoor penetration loss of modern buildings with energy saving glass is already a challenge today This challenge increase with carrier frequency and the demand for higher user data rates. Outdoor only solutions can cover most indoor scenarios until 2020 Adding spectrum and deploying outdoor small cells However modern high-rise buildings need uptilted macro cells or indoor solutions Necessity of Indoor solutions increases beyond 2020 Both due to Increased capacity and coverage requirements Number of required Indoor cells becomes more than a magnitudes higher than the number of outdoor micro cells.
