De får følgeskab af PH s bud på fremtidens lys i form af en selvlysende koglekrone, som lysmageren skabte til Ole Helwegs runde plastikhus på Forums udstilling Huset af i Overmorgen i 1959. Kataloget præsenterer også Christian Fjerdingstads meget sjældne art deco-sølvfad, som han tegnede for det hæderkronede parisiske sølv- og juvelérfirma Christofle, hvor han i årene 1924-41 virkede som kunstnerisk direktør. Et fint udvalg af Finn Juhl og Hans J. Wegner akkompagneres af et af Poul Kjærholms meget tidlige møbler, der blev præsenteret på Kunsthåndværkets Forårsudstilling i 1954. Det drejer sig om den sjældne hvilestol Tripod, der kun er produceret i omkring 20 eksemplarer. Good purchases at the Modern Auction With this catalogue we welcome you to this summer s Modern Auction, which will be hosted at our premises on Bredgade in Copenhagen. This catalogue presents a wide selection of modern paintings, furniture designs and decorative art. The current global economic downturn is making its mark. Subsequently, we at Bruun Rasmussen have had to adapt the price level to the general art market, which is why the upcoming auction offers many opportunities for really good purchases. The main feature of the catalogue is the private collection of ship designer Allan Daugaard Hansen, which includes the charming painting by Asger Jorn entitled Frieri ( Proposal ), two mask compositions by Egill Jacobsen, and not least a prized collection of his friend Henry Heerup s imaginative drawings. Kaj Gottlob s colossal chandelier from the Stock Exchange Hall even represents a true piece of Danish cultural heritage from one of Copenhagen s oldest buildings, which for almost 400 years has stood as a symbol of the city. We also feature Poul Henningsen s vision of future lighting in the shape of a luminous Artichoke pendulum that he designed for Ole Helweg s round plastic home showcased at Forum, Copenhagen, as part of the 1959 exhibition Huset af i Overmorgen ( The House of The Day after Tomorrow ). The catalogue also presents Christian Fjerdingstad s very rare art deco silver dish, which he designed for the distinguished Parisian silverware and jewellery company Christofle where he served as artistic director from 1924 to 1941. A fine selection of furniture designs by Finn Juhl and Hans J. Wegner is accompanied by one of Poul Kjærholm s very early designs originally presented at the exhibition Kunsthåndværkets Forårsudstilling ( The Applied Art Spring Exhibition ) in 1954, namely the rare Tripod easy chair of which only 20 copies were produced. DAUGAARD HANSEN S COLLECTION Allan Daugaard Hansen (1922-2009) lot 1-51 Allan Daugaard Hansen was trained as a ship designer, and from 1953 to 1974 he was chairman of Burmeister & Wain's Art Society. Concurrently, he was an enthusiastic photographer and later self-taught painter. Precisely his interest in photography was at the root of his life-long friendship with Henry Heerup with whom Daugaard Hansen made a colour film in 1955. He also published a profusely illustrated monograph on Heerup in 1996. Allan Daugaard Hansen followed Heerup for decades, and this is why Heerup's work is especially well represented in the collection by everything from oil paintings across stone sculptures to drawings. The collection offers a rare insight into Heerup's great gifts as draughtsman. Most notable, perhaps, among the other focus points in the collection are Asger Jorn's charming little painting "Courtship" from 1944 and two mask compositions by Egill Jacobsen from the 1950's. In addition, the collection includes works by artists such as Heimrad Prem, H.P. Zimmer, Frede Christoffersen, Mogens Balle and Jean Deyrolle. Furthermore, you will find interesting graphics by Joan Miró, Pierre Alechinsky, Asger Jorn, Sam Francis and David Hockney. 1 Allan Daugaard Hansen (1922-2009) var uddannet skibskonstruktør, og i perioden 1953-1974 var han formand for B&Ws Kunstforening. Sideløbende var han en ivrig fotograf og senere autodidakt maler. Netop interessen for foto-grafi blev kimen til et livslangt venskab med Henry Heerup, som Daugaard Hansen lavede en farvefilm med i 1955 og udgav en gennemillustreret monografi om i 1996. Allan Daugaard Hansen fulgte Heerup gennem mange årtier, og derfor er især Heerups værk rigt repræsenteret i samlingen med alt fra oliemalerier over stenskulpturer til tegninger. Samlingen giver et sjældent fint indblik i Heerups store kvaliteter som netop tegner. Blandt de øvrige fokuspunkter i samlingen skal især Asger Jorns lille charmerende maleri "Frieri" fra 1944 og to maskekompositioner af Egill Jacobsen fra 1950'erne fremhæves. Samlingen rummer desuden, blandt mange andre, værker af navne som Heimrad Prem, H.P. Zimmer, Frede Christoffersen, Mogens Balle og Jean Deyrolle. In the summer of 1944 Jorn spent a couple of months at Else Fonnesbech-Sandberg's house in Tibirke. Her pet name was "Dida" and at that time Jorn signed a number of his watercolours "Aska" for Asger. In this way the term "Didaska-compositions" came into being. Typically the Didaska-compositions show two closely related bird-like figures with large heads. The motive has often been seen as an expression of the erotic attraction between Jorn and the 20 years older Elna Fonnesbech-Sandberg. CONTEMPORARY ART Mirdjavadov Djavad Mirdjavadov (1923-1992), lot 101-108 I drown the universe in colour. I weep and am enthralled when I listen to the cacophony of my creations, when on top of saturated colours and motifs I fill the room to bursting point; when I pile pictures up, one after another, and when I heap one mountain on top of another when I revive the spirit of the Titans. Mirdjavad Mirdjavadov has been called the shaman of modern art. His work reverberates with references to the rich cultural heritage of his homeland, Azerbaijan. He is also profoundly inspired by prehistoric art, Indian and African art and the art of the Native Americans and not least a number of influential western art movements of the 20th century. 101 101 CD DJAVAD MIRDJAVADOV b. 1923, d. 1992 "Dancing", 1985. DKK 10.000-12.000 / 1.300-1.600 As was the case with many artists in the former Soviet Union, Mirdjavadov s expressive talent was met with harsh resistance from the political elite. Not before the 1970s was he granted permission to exhibit his paintings and he was barred from joining the Azerbaijani artist s association until 1987, at the age of 64. Then in an absurd twist of events was awarded the title Honorary Practicing Artist of Azerbaijan. His dauntless artistic drive had overcome fierce opposition and exclusion from the established art scene, although his health has suffered considerably. Towards the end of his life he experienced the break up of the Soviet Union and lived to see his works exhibited side by side with many of the greatest artists of the 20th century. Apart from being represented in Azerbaijan and Russia, Mirdjavadov is today also represented at major art museums and in prominent collections in Europe and the USA. In 1999 Mirjavadov s works were exhibited at a major retrospective at the Herning Art Museum. A book was published to coincide with the exhibition, entitled Djavad Mirdjavadov, Moderne Russisk Kunst (Modern Russian Art) featuring contributions from Vladimir Aituganov, Teddy Brunius and Finn L.
