Academic prerequisites Foreign language reading proficiency Objectives description (assessment criteria) It is recommended that the student takes subject module course 1 before commencing subject module course 3. It is recommended that subject module 3 is taken in the same semester as subject module courses 2 and 4, as the three subject module courses. The student must be able to read academic texts written in English. The objective of the workshop is to enable students to acquire: Knowledge: Fundamental knowledge of communication planning and critical reflection on the problems and possibilitie audiences, with a view to the planning and development of a text/image production. Skills: Knowledge of linguistic communication, elementary image theory, and the interplay between Skills in working with and organising a communication and information process aimed at providing specia Skills in handling and compiling communication plans with a view to text/image productions. Skills in selecting and evaluating linguistic tools and images and the interaction betwee Competencies: Competency to take independent responsibility for one s own academic development and specialisation w Competency to initiate, take responsibility for and manage a complex and unpredictable process of comm others. Overall content The workshop is intended to provide the student with basic knowledge of communication planning, and of the prob various target groups. There will be an alternation between theory and practice in the planning and development of a communication plan will be provided to linguistic communication and the use of images in connection with specific professional issues. 2 Teaching and working methods Expected work effort (ectsdeclaration) At the workshop we will work in different ways. Some days will consist of 'lectures' - where we will work with and d the chance to practice some of the things we have discussed during the lectures. The primary functions will be introduced and the toolbox expanded during the day, while the students are working hands-on with 2-3 graphical assignments. That s why it s important all students have InDesign CC installed. The tuition and assignments are based on the english language version of InDesign CC. PREPARATION FOR 1-DAY WORKSHOP IN INDESIGN CC The download and launch process will take up to an hour. Please be prepared and ready in advance. There s no time on the day of class. Follow the links below: Step-by-step guide to download, install, and launch trial versions of Adobe Creative Cloud apps: Notice Indesign CCs trial version lasts 7 days. I recommend to buy Indesign CC for one month (when trial has ended). It costs 275kr. The visual means of effect in terms of semiotic resources will be discussed in regard to how they support the content of the products.
