The Christmas Show has once again been a success due to the wonderful presentations from the different classes, support and donations from the parents to the Lottery, Raffle, Loppemarket and Café. This year however was a bit different to previous years, as it had a main charitable purpose of supporting the earthquake victims in Pakistan by donating the profit from the event to the cause. Thanks to your help we managed to collect 5000 kr! The 6-7th class presented the donation to the Red Cross Communications Director, Klaes Hammundsen. He spoke of how the International Red Cross has currently distributed supplies to the survivors through: food, water, Continued on next page In this issue: Christmas Show 1 A.I.S Charity 2 Praktik Ugen 3 Experimentarium 4 Pancake Day 5 Radiant Rodents 6 Movie Review & Poems Fun Page 8 En notits fra jeres studie- -vejledere! 7 Success Stories 9 10

Page 2 AIS Newsletter clothes, blankets and tents. There has already been 5000 tons of food, water and clothes distributed, as well as 460,000 blankets, 91,000 covers, and 45,000 tents. This is a copy of the pressemeddelelse that was sent out to the local newspapers in Amager. Here is the picture with the boys from 6th-7th giving the 5,000 kr. cheque to Comminications Director, Klaes Hammundsen!. In addition, three mobile health clinics, nine flying air medics with doctors and nurses, and two field hospitals are in operation to attend to the sick and wounded. There has been 150,000 survivors that have been attended to since the first three months after the disaster. Lidt for os betyder meget for dem! Yderligere oplysninger: Sevinc Aktas og Waslah Mansha, 6.-7. klasse: 32 58 72 42 Klasselærer Charline Astrupgaard: 32 58 72 42 He also said that it costs less than 1 kr. to clean 10 ltr of water, and that one could only survive three days without water, but three weeks without food. Together we have all made a difference, and that is the most important thing. Written by 6-7th class This is a copy of the letter from The Danish Red Cross to thank us for our donation.

- James Herskov I did my praktik placement at SATS Motions Center. I chose this place as I like to work out and keep fit. I was in praktik for a week, everyday from 8.00 to 15.00. It was tough, but I made it through. I had to solve some problems with computers and had a lot of paper work to do. Sometimes if I wasn t too busy, I could attend some exercise classes. I really enjoyed being there and I have received a lot of knowledge on some courses to become a personal trainer. - Sina Hadi Sohi I worked in a canteen during the praktik week. I have worked before, but in a real job. At first I was just stocking things and cleaning a bit around, but afterwards I started serving some of the customers. There was a book full of prices, and it was difficult to find the prices at times. Sometimes I couldn t find them. After a while I started to get the hand of things and that was good. There is one important thing that I learned during praktik week, and that is to be prepared for anything while working. Not everything turns out the way you want or expect it. I did have fun though during the praktik week. - Kevin Martinelli - Rajveer Singh

2006 February Issue nr.2 Page 4 Go go Gadget Girls! Students try and taste food while holding their nose. The food tastes different. Try! Trip To The Experimentarium Students discover the amazing gadgets and learn things they never knew about science! Lil Mo discovers how it feels to have his head as the main course! Euh! Taking a break from it all. All the gadgets and gizmos can get a bit tiring! We have had a great day at the Experimentarium. There were so many exciting things to play with and we have learned so much! It was very interesting just to sit down on a chair, look at a mirror, push a button and within minutes have a nice card printed with your picture on it, with data about your body that you could study and measure later on. There was also a machine that we put our arm in that measured our blood pressure and other machines that measured how strong our muscles were. We fed a robot with food being in the form of a CD, and we could see which foods were healthy and not healthy for our body. Then a girl at a little bar with many vegetables and fruits asked us to taste a piece of different types of food with our nose closed using our two fingers. We found out that food did not taste the same, so we learned how important it is to be able to smell food in order to get the taste. There was a stationary bicycle which we could cycle on, and after cycling a certain distance, we could get a free drink. There were also some big squares you could step on, that had the sounds of a piano when you stepped on them. There was a funny soap bubble show; it is interesting that when one has soap on the hand, the bubble does not get broken. There were so many interesting things to play with at the Experimentarium, and both classes had fun and learned a lot of new things. We highly recommend the place! Written by 4A & 5-6th class

2006 February Issue nr.2 Page Side 5 Second Class Have Pancake Day Ingredients: - Eggs - Milk - Flour - Sugar - Salt - Baking powder - Butter or oil - and of course an appetite! Humpdy Dumpty had a great fall...straight into the bowl! Preparation: Sift together 2 cups of flour, 2 1/2 teaspoons of baking powder, and 1/2 a teaspoon of salt. In a separate bowl, combine one egg and 1 1/2 cups of milk; add to flour mixture, stirring only until it becomes smooth. Blend in melted butter or oil. Cook on a hot, greased pan, using about 1/4 cup of batter for each pancake. Cook until brown on one side and around edge; turn and brown the other side. Add jam, syrup or sugar topping for that extra delicious taste! Recipe for pancakes serves around 4 people. You can always add more ingredients of course, if you are making pancakes for a lot of people. That is what we did in our class. Heh heh! Good luck and bon appetite! Chef Stefanie shows how it is done. Second class become master chefs as they make their pancakes all by themselves! By Angelo del Valle, 2nd Class Teacher

Hilsen 4B

2006 February Issue nr.2 Page 7 Dawn of The Dead Movie Review The movie is about people who turn into some kind of zombies. No one knows how this zombie thing started, but when it did, it got worse and worse. When a zombie (human eater) bites a person, that person transforms into a zombie too, and starts to search for human meat. The main actress is a nurse, who gets attacked, but escapes. Unfortunately, her husband doesn t. Throughout the movie she meets some nice people, and they let her stay with them at a mall. They have food, clothes to wear, and other things they need. The zombies wanted them, but why just them? The zombies wanted them because they were the only people left that weren t zombies too. The zombies find them at the mall, but they manage to leave the city and escape to an island, where other zombies await them. Will they manage to escape? What will their fate be? If you are interested, I recommend you to watch the movie. Written by Bano Shaher, 7th Class Haiku Poems from 5-6th Class Each thing needs training. Even if the master trains.
