2 BRUUN RASMUSSEN KUNSTAUKTIONER forskellige retninger og er med Tøjners ord et udtryk for museets 40 års tilnærmelse til det 20. århundredes kunst. Louisiana har ikke altid vidst, hvor det ville hen. Det lyder defensivt, men jeg mener godt, det kan tolkes offensivt, siger Tøjner. Han bliver ofte bliver spurgt om, hvor museet skal bevæge sig hen. Det kan jeg ikke svare på, for vi bevæger os derhen, hvor kunsten bevæger sig hen. Kunstnerne laver kunst, og museerne kommer bagefter. Fødekæden må ikke laves om, så det bliver museernes behov for udstillinger og museumsfolkenes lyst til at profilere sig, der bliver den drivende kraft i, hvad kunstnerne laver, understreger han. Arkitekturen har altid spillet en meget væsentlig rolle for Knud W. Jensen, og Louisiana som arkitektonisk projekt er også noget af det, der interesserer Tøjner allermest. Man må gå ind i Knuds hoved for at forstå det med arkitekturen. Knud var besat af at lave prægnante rammer for aktiviteterne. Det var på det punkt, at han forsøgte at perfektionere sit engagement. Han var mæcen og rammeskaber - ikke kunstner. Han havde et drive og en æstetisk vilje, der var lige så stor som de kunstnere, der frembragte værkerne. Han lagde sin ildhu og omtanke i at få rammerne til at være perfekte for kunstnerne, siger Tøjner. Larger than anything. På Louisiana trækker man i stedet bygningerne ned i en skala, der svarer til de huse, man gerne vil bo i. Den arkitektoniske mission på Louisiana er, at der skal være en form for genkendelighed. Jeg ser det næsten som et socialt projekt at få kunsten ned i øjenhøjde og sekularisere bygningerne. Intet er længere fra Louisiana end klassiske kunstmuseer, udformet som templer med hellige haller og så videre. Med hensyn til samlingen er Louisiana, som alle andre, i fremtidens vold, og har svært ved at lægge strategier for indkøb. Tøjner er meget stolt af museets samling, og også udlandet anerkender den som værende i international klasse. Knud og arkitekturen Siden åbningen i 1958 er der mange gange bygget til det oprindelige museum, men nu er det slut, forsikrer Tøjner. Knud ville have udbygget publikumsfaciliteterne hernede ved vandet, men jeg var ikke enig med ham. Det var beboerne i Humlebæk heller ikke. Planerne vakte en storm af protester mod det ellers vellidte museum, der måtte trække dem tilbage. Når man i dag ser ud over Louisianas bygningerne, der hviler i det smukke, kuperede landskab ved vandet, er det åbenlyst, at Knud W. Jensens arkitektoniske projekt er lykkedes ganske godt. Kunsten ned i øjenhøjde Arkitekturen her på museet adskiller sig fra næsten alle andre museer ved små forhold. Du kan relatere rummene til din krop. Statens Museum for kunst fra omkring 1900 var et forsøg på at overbyde den menneskelige skala under devisen Et af de væsentligste arkitektoniske principper på Louisiana er, at museet aldrig udefra må virke monumentalt. Museet kan godt byde på store bygninger, men de er altid bygget ind i landskabet, således at man f.eks. udnytter et naturligt fald eller en naturlig stigning, påpeger Tøjner. Man skal hele tiden rundt om det næste hjørne Et andet væsentligt arkitektonisk princip på museet er relateret til det faktum, at museet er et gå museum frem for et glanemuseum. Danish officers sabre pattern A fine german silver hilted hunting sword c with a grip of horn and a single edged 53 cm. long blade marked on both sides with the motto PRO DEO ET PATRIA and a hunting scene. (c. 200) An English military hand bearing compass Type 06A with a handle containing a torch in its wooden case: The torch might be used independently but were normally screwed onto the base of the compass illuminating the rose for taking night bearings through the prism. It is marked with a broad arrow and were used during the second world war by among others the RAF. (1) A good Indian probably 19th. century sword Pata with the iron shell and wrist guard with silver inlay and a 2 feet 6 1/2 inch (77,5 cm) long flexible double edged blade riveted to the hand guard. (1) A fine Mindanao Kampilan with a 25 1/4 inch (64 cm) long solid blade with a sharp edge, a well carved pommel shaped in the form of an open crocodile? mouth, a handle wrapped in braided rattan and a simple wooden scabbard. The ivory hilt is c. 8 3/8 inch (22 cm.) long carved with circles going round the entire hilt. Century Klewang from Sumatra with a hilt of silvertipped horn and a heavy straight single edged c. 19 7/8 inch (50 cm.) long blade widening towards the point. Blankvåbentilladelse påkrævet. (1) A fine Yatagan sword with a classical slightly down curving 24 1/2 inch (62 cm.) long single edged blade marked with a maker s mark and a hilt in chiselled niello silver inlay. The back of the upper part of the blade is marked in script and the plain wooden scabbard is covered in rawhide on the upper part. Blankvåbentilladelse påkrævet. (1) A finely carved Patani Keris with a well preserved wooden Hulu Pekaka hilt (kingfisher hilt) with a long beak - the hilt does not represent a bird but is more like a demonic figure with a long nose and bulgy eyes. (1) A small Japanese wakizashi with an unsigned c.12 1/2 inch ( 32 cm.) long slender 3/4 inch (2 cm.) wide blade showing a clear hamon, an allmost round tsuba of beaten brass, plain Kashira and fuchi in a black lacquered wooden scabbard. Afbildet A small straight silver hilted Arabian antique dagger with a 4 1/4 inch (11 cm.) long blade with a central rib and 2 fullers on each side and a fine silver hilt and scabbard as well as 2 more recent Jambya daggers. (1) A small Danish socketed bronze axe - celt ca. 2 3/4 inch long with one side polished and the other patinated. Recovered on the isle of Langeland En god enkeltgravs stridsøkse af sen undergravstype med buet underside og næsten ret overside, stort skafthul med fremspringende lister på siderne og ved nakken. Æggen er noget beskadiget på oversiden og det samme gælder nakken, men denne ca. 16 cm. lange økse er af en sjælden type, der efter sigende er fundet i forbindelse med tørvegravning på Langeland? (1) A fine Danish late single grave culture battle axe of dark pitted stone with a large shaft hole marked on the outside with list on the outside. The type is not common and this 6 1/2 inch long speciment is supposed to come from the isle of Langeland? Afbildet En dansk flint daggert af tidlig type IV med begyndende fiskehale og ca. 11 cm. langt blad der er 4,5 cm bredt på bredeste sted. Total længde ca. 19 cm. Det er ikke muligt at se hvorvidt kniven har været slebet før den sidste fladehugning fandt sted, men det er sandsynligt. (1) A good Danish flint dagger of type IV with the beginning of a fishtail handle, c. 7 1/2 inch long with a tapering 4 1/4 inch blade. Daggers of this type appeared in the beginning of the proper Bronze Age and are imitations in flint of a bronze dagger Et godt ca. 15 cm. langt seglblad i mørkegrå flint med tydelig gloss langs den tandede æg. Dertil 4 fine fladehuggede bronzealder pilespidser i lys og grå flint. (5) A fine Danish sickle and four Bronze Age arrowheads in flint: The 6 inch sickle in dark grey flint is finely made with clear gloss at the serrated edge. The 2 arrowheads are in white and 2 in grey flint, but all are finely made with diagonal pressure flake removals En interessant grønstensøkse ca. 14 cm. lang og 5,5 cm. bred med et stort skafthul og plan over- og underside. Skafthullet er trukket noget tilbage fra midten og øksen er antagelig fra bondestensalderens allersidste afsnit. Fundet på Langeland. (1) An interesting Danish probably late Neolithic battle axe in dark green stone c. 5 1/2 inch long and c. 2 1/4 inch wide with a shaft hole slightly offset from the center. OKTOBER En samling oldsager på 9 stk. bestående af 3 små tyknakkede ca. 9 cm. lange økser med slebne bredsider, 3 større tyndnakkede do ca cm. lange - den længste med hulslebet æg, 2 små tyndnakkede do ca. 8 cm. lange samt en ca. 7 cm. lang delvist slebet mejsel. Alle fundet på Langeland. (9) A collection of flint axes and a chisel from Langeland consisting of 3 small thick butted axes c. 3? inch long, 3 larger thin butted axes c. 4 3/4-5 1/2 inches long - the longest with a concave edge, 2 small thin butted axes c. 3 1/4 inch long and a slender partly grinded chisel c. 2 3/4 inch long A good complete 20th. century Spanish? bridle in coloured horsehair with a large iron bit (1) Hovedtøj med stangbid udført i farvet hestehår. 20. årh Samlingen efter Christian Ries ( ) Ries deltog på den anden DANA ekspedition som 2. styrmand. Samling som nu kommer på auktion, er for en stor dels vedkommende et resultat af hans etnografiske interesse, og har stået urørt siden hans alt for tidlige død. En stor del er samlet i de havne DANA anløb på sin rejse rundt om jorden. Ekspeditionen, som fandt sted fra 1928 til 1930 omsejlede kloden og bragte et enormt videnskabeligt materiale med hjem, som det tog mere end 40 år at behandle. Rejsen gik vestover gennem Panama Kanalen og over Stillehavet til Filippinerne, New Zealand, Bangkok, Saigon, Manila og Shanghai, forbi Ceylon og rundt om Afrika med en tur indenom Middelhavet, før turen gik til København. Staten stillede skibet til rådighed for Carlsberg-fonden, og Dana var bemandet med flådens personel. Christian Ries blev kadet i 1916, sekondløjnant 9/2 1921, Premierløjtnant 1/1 1922, Kaptajnløjtnant 1/6 1931, Orlogskaptajn 1/ Han deltog som 2. styrmand på havundersøgelsesskibet DANA i Carlsbergfondets oceanografiske ekspedition omkring jorden A complete full dress uniform for a Danish naval commander belonging to Christian Ries Chr. Ries participated in the Carlsberg Foundations oceanographical expedition around the globe in Afbildet A Siamese naval officer's brass hilted dagger with the typical elephants pommel and a Japanese style 10 inch (25,5 cm.) long single edged blade in its scabbard with 2 brass mounts. (1) A large and interesting Indian Madu or Fakir s Horn shield consisting of a pair of steel tipped black buck horns fastened together with a circular 8 1/4 inch (21 cm.) steel shield decorated with brass studs and a half moon. Total length 38 inches. (1) Afbildet A large ivory hilted Kama dagger from Dagastan? with a massive 20 inch (51 cm.) long double edged blade with a deep fuller on each side slightly offset from the middle decorated with an inscription inlaid on both sides in golden kaftgari technique. The 2 1/4 inch (5,5 cm.) wide blade has some light rust and the wooden scabbard is covered with faded red velvet. Blankvåbentilladelse påkrævet. (1) Afbildet A small bone handled kama dagger from? with a hilt made of an upper bone and a lower horn plate, a 13 inch (33 cm.) long double edged pattern welded blade with 3 fullers on each side and a master's mark. (1) Afbildet A staghorn powder horn from Hungary? decorated with geometric figures on the front while the back is smooth in its original brass studded raw hide belt Two loop daggers of the TIV people from the Niger river in Nigeria with c. 14,5 cm. long well made blades and a total length of c. 9 inches (22,5 cm.) The rings are finely decorated with carved and filed geometrical decorations. Blankvåbentilladelse påkrævet. (2) A finely carved small Dha knife of Greaves-Winston TypeMetro Kachin with a well carved ivory blade carved with a demon, tigers, snakes, monkeys and a single elephant. The slightly down curved blade is c. 9 1/2 inch (24 cm.) long and the total length is 36 cm. The knife is in a wooden heath covered in thin silver plate - the tip of the scabbard is damaged. (1) Two allmost identical Billao daggers from the coastal people of Somalia with good c. 9 inch (23 cm.) non-symmetrical leaf shaped blades and grips of two sections of horn separated by layers of brass and steel with three pronged shape pommel made of steel. Blankvåbentilladelse påkrævet. (1) A fine ivory hilted long dagger/short sword probably of the Boa tribe from East Zaire, Africa. The ivory grip is well preserved with signs of use and the double edged c. 22 1/4 inch (57 cm.) long blade carved with geometrical lines on the entire length. The blade is somewhat rusty but should clean up nicely with a few spots of pitting. Blankvåbentilladelse påkrævet. (1) A war sword of the Ngombe people from Zaire with a typical c. 15 1/2 inch (39 cm.) blade with rear "ears" decorated with geometrical design and a wood handle with a pommel covered with hide. The blade is rusty with some shallow pitting. Blankvåbentilladelse åkrævet. (1) A large and impressive Indo-Persian Pesh-kabz with a c. 13 1/2 inch (34 cm.) long T-spined blade in good wootz and a very thick handle in probably walrus ivory. The good wooden scabbard is iron tipped and covered in black leather with a tooled iron upper mount. Blankvåbentilladelse påkrævet. (1) Afbildet An extremely good and complete 'parang ilang', or 'mandau' - the principal weapon of all the people of Borneo used for warfare as well as utilitarian purposes with a c. 20 1/2 inch (52 cm.) long single edged heavy blade inlaid with brass studs on the entire length and a finely ornately carved handle of antler decorated with black human? hair. The wooden scabbard is finely carved and wrapped and most important - the small skinning knife is still in the back of the scabbard. Early 20th c. Blankvåbentilladelse påkrævet. (1) A good klewang with a c. 21 1/4 inch (54 cm.) long tapering blade with a straight spine and a finely carved hilt in black water buffalo? horn in a fine two-piece traditional wooden scabbard. The blade has the traditional ornaments near the hilt meant for capturing an opponents blade. Blankvåbentilladelse påkrævet. (1) A small Greaves-Winston TypeMetro Kachin Dha dagger with an extremely sharp silver hilted pointed blade in a scabbard covered in long fibres with 2 small silver mounts. This type of scabbard is extremely rare and this example is well preserved. Blankvåbentilledelse påkrævet. (1) A fine tapa (bark cloth) beater of heavy elephants tusk c. 12 inch long with a ribbed head and a small but heavy Oceanic hardwood mace with a large flanged head and a c. 12 1/4 inch (31.5 cm.) long handle carved by the grip. The head shows sign of wear with a crack, but the overall condition is fine. (2) Three bone handled African? knives with triangular blades made from discarded socket bayonet blades? c /2 inch (29 cm.) long - one straight and two curved in a single crocodile scabbard with a braided belt and another set with snake skin covered grips and native blades. Blankvåbentilladelse påkrævet. (2) An ivory? hilted Caucasian Kama dagger with a double edged c. 14 inch (35,5 cm.) long pattern welded blade with two masters marks and two fullers on each side. (1) An ivory? hilted Caucasian Kama dagger with a large heavy double edged c. 17 1/2 inch (44,5 cm.) long blade with a deep fuller on each side slightly off set from the middle and inlaid on one side with a golden koftgari decoration. OKTOBER An Indian Khanjarli dagger with a recurving multi fullered c. 8 1/2 inch (21 cm.) long blade with a hilt composed of two large ivory?plates riveted to the tang. The hilt shows a fine patina with a part of the guard missing as is some rivets. The hilt may not be original to the dagger, but the repair is old. The blade has a hole by one of the deep fullers. (1) An African sickle shaped knife of the Mangbetu people residing in Central Africa with a 8 1/4 inch (point to point) blade with the traditional two holes and a total length of 12 inches (40 cm.) (tip of blade to pommel). The handle is dark wood wrapped in brass with a cracked pommel. Blankvåbentilladelse påkrævet. (1) An African knife from either Mangbetu or Azande with an iron or steel blade with rounded cleaver shape c. 8 inches (20 cm.) long with a wooden hilt bound with iron wire with a small pommel. The replacement grip is finely varnished walnut. The overall condition of the gun is excellent - the engraving is probably done after the working life of the gun. The revolver has about 95 % nickel plating left and the hard rubber grips are very worn with the left side grip repaired. The Tom Threepersons-style holsters with cutaway tops exposing the hammers and triggers hold a peacemaker with a 4 3/4 inch barrel. The silver studded belt has 23 lops for bullets and the classic Bohlin 3 piece set engraved with scrolls and clearly marked. The buckle is decorated with a foot marked IFA and the initials RS. The cylinder is engraved with 5 scenes depicting war scenes framed by leaves and flowers which are somewhat faint but still visible. The two piece ivory grip is fine and the left side grip is carved with the American eagle above a scroll with the word LI- BERTY while the right side grip is plain.
