Billedkunst, proveniens og rumfart På auktionen er den danske guldalder repræsenteret med Ferdinand Richardts charmerende skildring af udsigten fra hans hjem mod Sankt Petri Kirke (kat.nr. 11) foruden J.Th. Lundbyes fine lille skitse fra Nordsjælland (kat.nr. 8) og en række af hans tegninger. Er man til fugle i farver, har Johannes Larsen på mesterlig vis løst opgaven med blandt andet det store maleri fra Fiil Sø med adskillige svømmende fugle (kat.nr. 25). Blomstermaleren I.L. Jensen har også ladet ænder indgå i flere jagtstillebener (kat.nr. 18-19). Skagensmalerne Ancher og Krøyer er som vanligt udbudt tillige med to fine interiører af Viggo Johansen, der skildrer kunstnerens hustru Martha (kat.nr. 29 og 43). Paul Fischer har sørget for at forevige det gamle København, der desværre forsvinder mere og mere (f.eks. kat.nr. 54). Denne gang kaster vi lys over Rusland med et udvalg af malerier og kunsthåndværk fra zartiden. Det gælder blandt andet et kystparti fra Skt. Petersborg af kunstneren Aleksei Petrovich Bogolyubov. Værket stammer fra kunstsamlingen efter Johan Poul Quaade, der var udstationeret i Rusland for Store Nordiske Telegrafselskab i begyndelsen af 1900-tallet (kat.nr. 304). Auktionen byder også på godt 20 kunstgenstande fra den hæderkronede juvelér Fabergé, anført af en stor elgfigur i sølv (kat.nr. 319). Et andet højdepunkt er det kinesiskinspirerede kabinetskab fra slutningen af 1600-tallet, som har prydet indretningen på Clausholm Slot hos Dronning Anna Sophie. Under et maskebal på Koldinghus i 1711 forelskede Frederik IV sig i hende, og hun blev viet til venstre hånd med ham. Forholdet skabte splid i kongehuset, og først efter Dronning Louises død i 1721 blev Anna Sophie kronet til dronning af Danmark-Norge. Kærligheden mellem dem var livslang, men efter kongens død i 1730 blev hun forvist af sin stedsøn Christian VI og tilbragte resten af livet i sit fødehjem på Clausholm (kat.nr. 364). En bemærkelsesværdig proveniens har også et smukt diamantsmykkesæt bestående af en ring, to brocher og en hårkam, der oprindeligt har tilhørt grevinde Eleonora Sophie Ahlefeldt-Laurvig-Bille. Hun fik det foræret af sin far, lensgreve Preben Charles Bille Brahe Selby, formentlig i anledning af sit bryllup på Hvedholm Slot i 1904. Smykkesættet har siden da været i familiens eje (kat.nr. 633). One small step for man, one giant leap for mankind sådan lød astronauten Neil Armstrongs berømte ord under månelandingen med Apollo 11 i 1969. Vi byder på en enestående mulighed for at erhverve et af rumfartshistoriens mest berømte armbåndsure, nemlig Omega Speedmaster, der var den model, som Armstrong bar om håndleddet, da han som det første menneske nogensinde betrådte månen (kat.nr. 786). Fine Art, Provenance and the Space Race At the auction the Danish Golden Age is represented by Ferdinand Richardt s charming depiction of the view from his home in Copenhagen of Sankt Petri s Church (cat. no. 11), as well as a fine little sketch by J.Th. Lundbye from Zealand (cat.no. 11) and a number of his drawings. If you like birds, Johannes Larsen has masterfully composed a large painting from Fiil Lake with several swimming birds (cat. no. 25). The flower painter I.L. Jensen has also included ducks in his hunting still lifes (cat. no. 18-19). The Skagen painters Ancher and Krøyer are up for auction as usual, as well as two fine interiors by Viggo Johansen portraying the artist s wife Martha (cat. no. 29 and 43). Paul Fischer has taken care to immortalize a side of Copenhagen, which unfortunately is disappearing more and more (cat. no. 54). This time, we will also focus on Russia with a selection of paintings and crafts from the Tsar-period. This includes a coastal section from Saint Petersburg by the artist Aleksei Petrovich Bogolyubov. The work comes from the art collection left by Johan Poul Quaade, who was stationed in Russia for the Great Northern Telegraph Company in the early 1900s (cat. no. 304). The auction also features some 20 art items from the venerable jeweller Fabergé, among them a large elk figure in silver (cat. no. 319). Another highlight is the Chinese-style cabinet from the late 1600s that has graced the interior of Queen Anna Sophie s Clausholm Castle. During a masked ball at Koldinghus Castle in 1711 Frederik IV fell in love with Anna Sophie, and she was married to him in a left-handed-marriage. The relationship created discord in the royal family, and it was only after Queen Louise s death in 1721 that Anna Sophie was crowned Queen of Denmark- Norway. Frederik IV and Queen Anna Sophie enjoyed a lifelong love for each other, but after the King s death in 1730, she was banished by his stepson Christian VI and spent the rest of her life in her birthplace at Clausholm Castle (cat. no. 364). A remarkable provenance is also attached to a beautiful diamond jewellery set consisting of a ring, two brooches and a hair comb, originally belonging to the Countess Eleonora Sophie Ahlefeldts-Laurvig-Bille. Her father, Count Preben Charles Bille Brahe Selby, gave the Countess the jewellery, presumably on the occasion of her wedding at Hvedholm Castle in 1904. The set of jewellery has since then been in the family s possession (cat. no. 633). One small step for man, one giant leap for mankind those were the famous words of astronaut Neil Armstrong during the moon landing of Apollo 11 in 1969. We offer a unique opportunity to acquire one of the space race s most famous watches, the Omega Speedmaster. The watch is of the same model as the watch Armstrong wore on his wrist, as he let go of the lunar module and, as the first man ever, stepped down onto the surface of the moon (cat. no. 786). Ussing had also signed up as a volunteer, and describes in his memoirs how he stood next to "min kjære Ven" (my dear friend) Lundbye during a shooting practice of the volunteers in April 1848 in Copenhagen. It was on this occasion, he saw Lundbye for the last time. This painting is one of Lundbye's last. He paints it during a 14-day stay in February 1848 at the farm Godthaab in Hellebæk in Nordsjælland. Shortly after he signs up as a volunteer in the war and on 18 April he leaves Copenhagen. 25 April 1848 Lundbye dies in Bedsted in South Jutland of an accidental shot. Literature: In an exhibition catalogue from Thorvaldsen's Museum and Aarhus Kunstmuseum 1991 p. 115 the portrait is seen in a photo from the artist's home, probably taken after Constantin Hansen's death in 1880. The portrait of his daughter Elise expresses serenity and simplicity. The little girl looks up from her book with great composure and peacefulness. Elise Konstantin-Hansen was an artist herself and from a very young age she showed a remarkably decorative talent as reflected in both her paintings, drawings, ceramics and decorative art. She created embroidery patterns for her sister's shop and worked with Thorvald Bindesbøll and the brothers Joakim og Niels Skovgaard and their sister Susette Holten. Oil on canvas. 115 x 83 cm. Ferdinand Richardt painted at least three works of St. Petri Church before he emigrated to USA. One of these with an almost identical motif as this, but smaller and from 1870, is now at Øregaard Museum. The artist exhibited at Charlottenborg 1871 no. 281 a painting entitled (in Danish) "Petri Church tower with Kallebodstrand in the background". Possibly the present painting. The blind Christian was one of the local people from Skagen painted several times by Michael Ancher. Renowned is "Blinde Kristian og Tine i sandet" (Blind Kristian and Tine seated in the sand), owned by the Hirschsprung Collection. Blind Christian was a popular model. He was also painted by Anna Ancher, Vilhelm Kyhn and Viggo Johansen. The Danish National Gallery owns a smaller version of the present painting. He wanted to become a marine painter and was therefore privately trained by C. F. Sørensen and later by Holger Drachmann. Thaulow visited Skagen in 1872 together with Holger Drachmann. In July 1879 Thaulow again went to Skagen this time together with his wife and daughter and the Norwegian painter colleague Christian Krohg. The present painting must be from one of his two visits to Skagen, presumably the first one, since it shows a strong inspiration from Holger Drachmann. Diam. 40 cm. The motif on the dish depicts the myth of Mercury as Argeiphontes (slayer of Argos). As punishment for having an affair with Jupiter, Juno transforms one of her priestesses into a cow and gets the monster Argus to guard her. Jupiter sends Mercury to slay the monster and save the priestess. Mercury plays on his flute for Argus for as long as it takes the monster to fall asleep, and Mercury kills the monster with his sword. Meta Sudans at the Arch of Constantine was a coneshaped fountain erected by Titus and restored by the Emperor Constantine. As the Via dell' Impero was constructed by Mussolini the eight meter high cone was demolished to make room for a traffic circle around Colosseum. Later the traffic circle was closed and the area cleared and the substructure of the Meta Sudans was re-excavated. The area is now a pedestrian district. In antiquity Meta Sudans was the point from which distances were measured to the Roman Empire's borders. Provenance: Bruun Rasmussen auction 149, 1962 no. 149. Emil Hannover, A Catalogue Raisonné of the Works of Constantin Hansen no. 91. Bought by Kunstforeningen, who owned a drawing of the same painting. Provenance: Manager Carl Will (1901). In a letter dated 18 March 1835 Constantin Hansen wrote to his sister Alvilde (in Danish): "I work on Ulysses captured by the cyclops...". On 28 March 1835 again to his sister: "Today I got my 50 species for Ulysses". 100 Homer's poem about Ulysses is about one of the Greek leaders fighting in the Trojan war with great courage, skill and cunning. On Ulysses' long journey back home, he is in great need of these skills on several different occasions, one of which is when his ship during a storm get blown out of course and grounds on the island of the cyclops Polyphemus, and Ulysses and his men are kept prisoners in his cave. Odysseus get Polyphemus drunk, which is the scene depicted in this painting, and then blinds the giant by thrusting a spear into his only eye.
