Welcome to the summer Modern sale at Bruun Rasmussen The Bruun Rasmussen Auction House takes great pleasure in presenting a wide variety of inspiring Danish design pieces. Just as with our catalogue of modern art, the modern design on offer at this summer s sale features many important pieces from the estate of the late Tage Andersen, including a unique collection of model trains. As with previous sales we present a host of top pieces by the most celebrated Danish furniture designers. There are no less than five copies of Finn Juhl s arguably most accomplished chair design the NV- 45 Chair including a pair in perfect condition made of rosewood, which is auctioned along with a rare example of the NV-45 Bench. Hans J Wegner is represented by a striking set of ten Cow Horn Chairs crafted in teak by cabinetmaker Johannes Hansen. Bruun Rasmussen has long been the leading auctioneer of designs by Poul Kjærholm. Available at auction are no less than three sets of PK-9 chairs in perfect vintage condition in addition to a very rare low PK-54 table with a Cipollini marble top, an early and rare set of wooden flag halyard easy chairs made by Thorald Madsen, a pair of PK-91 folding stools from the collection of designer Ole Palsby, and a PK-65 coffee table with provenance to the manufacturer E. Kold Christensen. In addition, three fine cabinets are also featured: Kaj Gottlob s exquisite cabinet from around 1936 made of Caucasian walnut, an elegant rosewood cabinet with drawers, on a black stand designed by the largely unknown J. Berg for Illums Bolighus and the amusing and inspiring Blue Cabinet, which Tove & Edvard Kindt-Larsen designed for the Cabinetmaker s Guild Exhibition in 1958 and which has been in the possession of the seller ever since. Finally, the sale presents a magnificent collection of early Poul Henningsen lamp designs, including a rare pair of five-branched basket chandelier lamps with ornate metalwork and amber glass shades. The highlight of the silver section. is the amazing Art Deco centrepiece bowl designed by Harald Nielsen for Georg Jensen around 1932. Also prominently featured is silverware from the estate of Tage Andersen, mainly by the two most eminent provincial Danish makers: Hingelberg in Aarhus and Hans Hansen in Kolding. Among the silver jewellery on offer are three rare designs by Erik Magnussen. The decorative art section includes a wide and inspiring variety of works by the acclaimed Danish ceramist Axel Salto, including some rare examples of his work. Also featured is Just Andersen s perhaps most influential design, a monumental sculptural bronze vase. The Department of Design and Decorative Art
