In 1801, Peter Willemoes defended the city from Lord Nelson in the famous Battle of Copenhagen with 24 cannons. The island is a popular excursion spot filled with secrets, culture, nature and a free historic exhibition in the casemates. It also has a cosy lunch café. At Halvandet, on the edge of Refshaleøen, you can experience a wonderful oasis, filled with industrial charm at the restaurant and beach bar, surrounded by sunbeds and sports activities and with a magnificent view of the Copenhagen skyline.
