Ladeguide Denne guide er skrevet for at dele vores erfaring i at lade ammunition, med specifikt fokus på jagtprojektiler fra DK Bullets, udført i messinglegering. Før du overhovedet erhverver dig projektiler fra DK Bullets, er det vigtigt at du er sikker på din twist rate, eller på dansk, stigning i riffelpiben. Da et messingprojektil er lettere end et tombak/bly projektil, kræver det at projektilet er lidt længere for at opnå samme vægt som et Tombak/bly projektil. Dette gør at der stilles krav til en hurtigere stigning i riffelpiben. På vores hjemmeside kan du under produktsiderne se hvilken stigning og hastighed der kræves for at stabilisere vores projektiler. Lad os tage udgangspunkt i følgende projektil. http://www.dkbullets.dk/kaliber308hunter160grainsbt.htm Her kan du se at ved en twist rate / stigning i piben på 1:12 er projektilet stabiliseret ved 730 meter i sekundet ved 0 grader Celsius. Stabilitetsfaktoren skal bare være over 1,4. Skydes projektilet af i fx en 1:11 stigning så er stabilitetsfaktoren 1,7 hvilket er mere end nok til at stabilisere projektilet. En 1:13 stigning er i dette tilfælde ikke godt nok og projektilet vil højst sandsynligt skyde meget dårligt. Når det rigtige projektil er valgt er det tid til at kigge på riflen. Riflen skal være i forsvarlig stand. Det anbefales at piben renses helt i bund for hvad den nu en gang har skudt med. Det er vigtigt at gøre da messing opfører sig anderledes end kobber- og tombaklegeringer. Når piben er renset helt i bund skal der cirka 10-20 skud igennem for at der skabes messingaflejringer og piben begynder at præstere små skudgrupper. dette er vigtigt at gøre inden den rigtige ladning skal findes. Når den rigtige ladning skal findes anbefaler vi at der udføres en stigetest. En stigetest udføres på følgende måde. Først skal der findes en start-ladning. Vi anbefaler at man starter cirka 15 procent under max. ladning, hvor det viste tryk i Quickload er gult.

Har man en kaliber der ikke er på listen er man altid velkomme til at kontakte DK Bullets på e-mail: info@dkbullets.dk Det er vigtigt at kende COL / totallængden på patronen. COL opgives som CIP eller SAAMI på forskellige kalibre. For at være sikker på at man kan bruge standard COL skal der lades en prøvepatron op. Patronen skal kamres og lades fra magasin. Hvis der er problemer med fødning fra magasinet skal COL gøres fx. 1 mm kortere og der prøves igen. Når alt fungerer måles COL og tallet tastes ind i Quickload. Bruges der anden sættedybde, hylstervolume, hylsterlændge eller riffelpibelængde skal disse tal rettes til og krudtmængden tilpasse så man igen lægger cirka 15 procent under max. tryk. I dette tilfælde er krudtmængden 44.5 grains. Personligt plejer jeg at lade 3 over og 3 under, og skille ladningerne med 0.3 grains. Dvs. at følgende ladninger opnås. 43.6-43.9-44.2-44.5-44.8-44.9-45.2. Der lades en af hver og 5 stk. af den mindste ladning så der er noget at indskyde med på 100 meter. Ved de høje ladninger skal der holdes øje med tryktegn. Vil man fx skille ladningerne med 0.2 grains kan dette også gøres, mes så skal der lades flere op da differensen fra min. til max. ellers bliver for lille. Der kan nu gøres to ting. Ejer man en Magnetospeed kronograf kan denne sættes på riffelpiben og man kan skyde de forskellige ladninger af. Placeringen af skuddene er ikke vigtig her da kronografen kan flytte Point OF Impact. Det vigtige her er at se på hastighederne. De 3 eller måske 4 der ligger tættest vælges og den i midten er den ladning der skal arbejdes videre med. Dette kan selvfølgelig også gøres med andre kronografer. De skal bare være ret nøjagtige. Ejer man ikke en kronograf, kan man gå på 100 meter banen og skyde de forskellige ladninger af. Se billede. dette er en stigetest med 9 forskellige ladninger der er skilt med 0.2 grains. Her ses det tydeligt at skud 1,2,3 og 4 næsten sidder på en horisontal linje. Det er de skud der har lille spredning i mundingshastigheden. Det er praktisk taget det man finder med kronografløsningen, men her er det bare visuelt mere tydeligt. De to løsninger kan også kombineres så man både får et visuelt billede og hastighedsmålinger. Synes man at stigetesten er for kompliceret man man lave en nem test med 3 forskellige ladninger, skilt med 0.5 grains krudt. I dette tilfælde ville udgangspunktet være: 44.0-44.5-45.0 grains krudt. De 3 ladninger skydes af på 100 meter og den mindste gruppe vælges. Herefter lades x antal patroner op og man kan tjekke ladningen og samtidig klare indskydningen. Vil man efterfølgende arbejde mere med en mindre skudgruppe kan der arbejdes med sættedybden. Men dette er ikke et avanceret ladekursus, blot en kort gennemgang der gerne skulle give nogle acceptable skudgrupper.

Loading Guide This loading guide is written to share our experience in loading ammunition, with specific focus on hunting projectiles from DK Bullets, manufactured in brass alloy. Before you acquire projectiles from DK Bullets, it's important that you are absolutely sure about the twist rate in your rifle barrel. Due to the fact that brass is lighter in density than a copper / lead projectile, the length of the projectile must be increased. This requires a steeper/faster twist rate in the rifle barrel. On our website under the product pages one can see the twist rate and muzzle velocity required for a specific projectile. This guide is based on the following hunting projectile. http://www.dkbullets.dk/kaliber308hunter160grainsbt.htm The table illustrates that the projectile is stable at a velocity of 730 m/s. This is at 0 C and a twist rate of 1:12. The stability factor should be above 1.4. If the projectile is fired in e.g. a twist rate of 1:11 then the stability factor is 1.7 which is more than adequate. If fired with a twist rate of 1:13 the projectile would probably perform very poor. When the right projectile is chosen, it's time to look at the rifle. The rifle should be in good condition and it is highly recommended that the barrel is thoroughly cleaned. It's important to clean the barrel because brass alloy projectiles behaves in a different manner compared to copper / lead projectiles. When the barrel is cleaned it will take 10-20 firings to have brass alloy deposits in the barrel and it will start to produce small groups. This is important to do before the right load is to be found. When the right load is to be found we recommend a ladder test. A ladder test is performed in the following fashion. First a start load must be found. We recommend at one starts around 15 percent below max. charge, where the displayed pressure in Quickload is yellow.

If a specific caliber is not on the list, one is always welcome to contact DK Bullets on e-mail: info@dkbullets.dk It is important to know COL / total length on your cartridge. Col can be found as CIP or SAAMI on different calibers. To be sure that COL can be used on a specific caliber, a test cartridge needs to be made. The cartridge has to be chambered and fed from the magazine. If there are any problems, the COL can be shortened by e.g. 1 mm, and the procedure is repeated. When everything works as it is supposed to, the COL can be entered in Quickload. If the seating depth, case volume, case length or rifel barrel length is different from the default values in Quickload, these need to be altered so the pressure again is around 15 percent below maximum pressure. In this case the charge weight is 44.5 grains. Personally I load 3 above and 3 below, with a separation of 0.3 grains. Thus the following charges will be obtained 43.6-43.9-44.2-44.5-44.8-44.9-45.2. load 1 of each and 5 of the lowest charge, so there is a couple of shots for zeroing at 100 meters. Look for pressure signs especially at the highest charges. One can also separate the charge weight by 0.2 grains, but more charge weights have to be loaded in order to have a reasonably big difference between the smallest and the highest charge. After loading there is 2 things that can be done. If you own a Magnetospeed chronograph you can simply fire the the different charges. The placement of the bullet holes is not that important due to the magnetospeed is moving the point of impact. The most important part is to look at the muzzle velocities. if there is 3 or maybe 4 really close in muzzle velocity, the charge weight in the middle is chosen for further developement. This can also be done with other chronographs, but they have to be accurate and consistent. If you don't own a chronograph you can go to the 100 meter range and fire the different charges. See image below. This is a laddertest with 9 different charges and a separation of 0.2 grains. Here it's quite obvious that 1-4 is almost on a horisontal line. Those are the charges with little difference in muzzle velocity. It's the same that is found with the chronograph solution, but here the result is a lillte more visual. The two solutions can also be combined, for a visual result, backed up by data from the muzzle velocity. If the ladder test is a bit too complicated, a test with 3 different charge weight can also be done. In this case the charge weights could be 44.0-44.5-45.0 grains of powder. The 3 different charges can be fired at 100 meters and the charge weight producing the smallest group will be chosen. Hereby a reasonably amount is loaded so the group can be verified and the rifle can be zeroed. If one wants to work further reducing the group size, the seating depth is the next step. But this is not an advanced loading guide, just a brief guide that should help the most produce an acceptable group for hunting.
