7 AvabaiPetitSchoolcelebratesalinternationaldays,andinkeepingwiththisspirit,we celebratedworldheritagedayonapril18,2019.\ Thetheme RuralLandscapes wascelebratedwitharobustoferingofperformancestargeted toraisetheawarenessofthestudentsregarding tangibleandintangible heritageandthe efortthatisrequiredtoprotectandconserveit,and,atthesametimedraw theatentionofthe childrentoitsvulnerability.theprogrammebeganwithasmalspeechonthetopicwhichwas folowedbyaquizontheheritagesitesofmumbai.danceformslikekathakandbharatnatyam were showcased along with the Spanish Flamenco,Paso Doble and the Salsa.Traditional martialartformslikekarateandcapoeiraweredemonstratedasweregymnastics,inathriling performancewhichservedtoencapturetheaudience. OurResource In Charge,Ms.JenniferFernandes,conductedaninterestingWorkshopon ActiveTeaching& LearningStrategieson22ndApril2019. TopicslikeGenerativeLearning,LearningthroughMnemonics and Mind maps were explained as were diferentteaching strategies like Reciprocallearning, the Pause Procedure, Devil sadvocate;gameandstoryboardbasedlearningaswel as the flipped classroom.the importance offeedback was highlighted. The rolesthata teacherplaysrightfrom being a facilitator, remediator,enricher,colaborator,assessor,resource person whilecontinuingfirstandforemosttobealearner,weredealt withinaninterestingandimmersivewaybyusingexamples from the classroom experiences ofthe teachers.itwas a deeplyenlighteningexperiencefortheteachersandprovided them withhandsonstrategieswhichtheycantryoutintheir classrooms.

8 A fun filed workshop on Connecting the Dots was conducted by Ms Rameeza Khan, Head of our Skil Enhancement Department on 25th April The workshophighlightedhow makingconnectionsandseeing therelationshipsbetweenourdiverseexperienceshelpin handlingandcopingwithourpresentlifesituations.the activitieshelpedtheteacherstorealisehow connectingthe dots between individual roles and the goals of the organization lead to a sense ofdignity and motivation, making one s job more meaningfuland worthwhile.the teachers participated enthusiasticaly in various group activitiesonteam BuildingandListeningSkils. 26thApril2019 "FlippedClassroom" Resourceperson:Ms.AnitaSalian&Ms.JenniferFernandes 'Theprofessor,insteadofbeingthe'sageonthestage',functions asthe'guideontheside.'- AlisonKing The above mentioned quote clearly explains the changing perspectivesineducationandtheroleoftheteachertoday.
