Dansk Optisk Selskab (DOPS) er en professionel organisation af personer, institutioner og virksomheder som arbejder med optik i Danmark. DOPS blev skabt i 1986 og har fra begyndelsen været det vigtigste forum i Danmark for aktiviteter relateret til de videnskabelige og tekniske aspekter af optik. Meningen med DOPS nyhedsbrev er at levere relevante nyheder indenfor optik i Danmark. Dette inkluderer en oversigt over artikler som har en bred interesse samt en oversigt over arrangementer i DOPS. Leder Welcome to another edition of the DOPS newsletter. The year 2016 is now gone and a new exiting year is starting. From the DOPS board, we would like to thank all the participants for making the annual DOPS conference a success. The beautiful Oticon building at DTU Lyngby campus was chosen as the venue for the meeting and almost 100 attendees from international companies and national universities were attending. From the attendees the answer was clear, yes DOPS should indeed continue. The same is the conclusion from the DOPS board. However, this does not necessarily mean DOPS has to continue as up to now. Thus, all members and potential members are encouraged to contact the DOPS board, either in person or by mail with your opinion. What should DOPS keep, what should we change, what can add etc? DOPS should be dynamic organization and reflect what our members want and need thus this discussion will continue in the future. - Side 2 af 5

Summary of Meeting The annual meeting started Thursday morning with breakfast followed by tracks with a number of talks. At midday the traditional poster session assisted with the traditional lager beer allowed the PhD students to interact with the attendees. A technical board appointed by the DOPS board went through the high quality posters to determine the best poster award. After a long day with eye-opening presentations it was time to a well-deserved dinner followed by the talk of the night - Danish space missions presented by Michael Linden-Vørnle. A very exiting talk which emphasized how large a small country like Denmark is within the space research. Friday the day continued with presentations before the awards were revealed. The winner of DOPS junior price was Simon Lehnskov Lange for his master thesis Development of a practical high-power terahertz detector. The award was presented by Steen Feldskov from Hamamatsu Photonics Deutschland GmbH who sponsored the award. The winner of the DOPS poster session was Aikaterini Argyraki for her poster based on her PhD work Inactivation of biofilms with UV LEDs. The award was sponsored by NKT Photonics. DOPS Junior price winner Simon Lehnskov Lange and Steen Feldskob from Hamamatsu Photonics GmbH who sponsored the award. Future events An extra ordinary assembly will be organized soon with one bullet on the agenda presenting the accounts for 2016 and budget for 2017. Additionally, a lunch program for students at DTU campus will be organized during late spring 2017. We hope to see you all at the next DOPS annual conference in 2017.
