Background political agenda and industry needs Global challenges and Danish growth and jobs Politicians show an increasing interest in industries, which can turn global challenges into Danish growth and jobs. The Danish maritime industry has a great potential for developing new solutions for global climate and environment challenges. Local maritime strengthening Several institutions and schools are at the moment establishing and strengthening internal cross-disciplinary centers and networks for maritime research and education. The local build-up is being done in a strong external dialogue between the local maritime centers and networks. National maritime partnership With the appropriate political support (INNO+, SPIR, etc.) it would be possible to establish a world class national partnership for maritime knowledge building and sharing. The partnership should be rooted in present maritime institutions, schools and companies. INNO+ Tool for political decision making INNO+ has been initiated as a part of the government s strategy for innovation. It will serve as a tool in the political decision process of public funding for larger innovation project investments. Criterias for a INNO+ project 1. Global demand. 2. Economical growth potential in a short and medium perspective. 3. based innovation build on Danish strongholds in knowledge and industry. 4. Potential for contribution from authorities through traditional innovation instruments, regulation, public purchase, education etc. 5. Close coorporation between companies, knowledge institutions and authorities. Process December 2012: 90 stakeholders was asked to participate February 2013: FI received 470 suggestions for INNO+ projects. May/June 2013: The 470 suggestions are being narrowed down to 15 25. August 2013: The INNO+ catalogue will be released. 2013 and 2014 The catalogue will be used in the national budget negotiations

One blue INNO+ suggestion Through a complicated and dynamic process the group has in dialogue with FI managed to re-write the 16 suggestions into one blue INNO+ project suggestion Blue jobs in green solutions. The final wording and the future destiny of this suggestion is still undetermined and open for influence. Blue jobs in green solutions Innovation need A national maritime partnership with crossdisciplinary knowledge building and sharing. Within this partnership specific innovations projects should be defined. Each partners should participate in the specific projects as chairmen, members or observers according to relevance. Objective Within 4 5 years new solutions will make it possible to ship a container from Denmark to China with half the energy consumption of today. Within 4 5 years new solutions should be 20 % more energy efficient than international demands. Environment solutions which comply with international demands should always be available.
