Support will be in the form of financial support to resubmit an application which has been accepted in the application process, but then rejected. In addition, a mentoring scheme is established for candidates who are applying for Starting Grants and Consolidator Grants, and who would like to improve their chances to perform well at the ERC interview. The interview is part of the application process for these instruments. The regulations will take effect in the next application round in 2014. Since the next ERC call is not expected until early to mid-2014, support is offered - for a limited period (autumn 2013)- for applications to the Danish National Research Foundation (Centers of Excellence), The Danish Council for Strategic Research (strategic research centers) and The Danish National Advanced Technology Foundation (Advanced Technology Platforms). In order to obtain support, it is a condition that the projects in question are larger projects, where the applicants apply for a substantial amount of money to research at SDU. Novo Nordisk Foundation Research Meetings The Novo Nordisk Fond is now accepting applications for grants for hosting symposiums or conferences in the Nordic Region. The theme of the activity must be within endocrinology or experimental physiology. Each grant is normally in the order of DKK 100,000 or more. Deadline: August 12, 2013. FP7 People: Marie Curie Research Fellowships - Marie Curie International Incoming Fellowships (IIF) - Marie Curie Intra-European Fellowships for Career Development (IEF) - Marie Curie International Outgoing Fellowships for Career Development (IOF) This is the last stage of the 7th Framework Program (FP7). Marie Curie Fellowships are European research grants available to researchers regardless of their nationality or field of research. In addition to research funding scientists have the possibility to gain experience abroad and in the private sector, and to complete their training with competences or disciplines useful for their careers. Deadline: August 15, 2013 Odense University Hospital (OUH) PhD pool 2013 PhD grants from the OUH research pool for 2013 are now available. Support is available for one full-time employee year of DKK 500,000, including study fees. In order to obtain support, there is a requirement that the majority of the PhD study is carried out at OUH and that the PhD project has a clear clinical perspective. Support is not available for PhD students who have received a grant (salary funding) from the Region of Southern Denmark, and students receiving support from OUH will not receive a grant from the Region of Southern Denmark. The Danish National Advanced Technology Foundation: Project and platforms Focus is on the perfect match of companies and research for new advanced technology initiatives in Denmark. Deadline for expression of interest: August 21, 2013 at 12 noon South Driven Development Research Projects - Vietnam and Ghana (DANIDA) Danish research institutions are now invited to express interest in cooperation with the institutions in Vietnam and Ghana on the pre-qualified projects. The main aim of the SDDRP is to strengthen the research capacity and long-term cooperation between Danish research institutions and research institutions in the countries included in the program. Deadline: August 23, 2013 at 3PM Call for proposals within the area of Synthetic Biology The Danish Council for Strategic Research is partner in the ERA-NET Synthetic Biology (ERA-SynBio) from which Danish Scientists can seek funding for projects within synthetic biology. At least three ERA-SynBio partner countries have to be included in a consortium. ERA-SynBio now opens for applications to the call entitled: ERASynBio 1st joint call for transnational research projects: Building Synthetic Biology capacity through innovative transnational projects. The Human Frontier Science Program (HFSP) - Postdoctoral Fellowships HFSP supports novel, innovative and interdisciplinary basic research focused on the complex mechanisms of living organisms; topics range from molecular and cellular approaches to systems and cognitive neuroscience and the interactions between organisms. A clear emphasis is placed on novel collaborations that bring biologists together with scientists from fields such as physics, mathematics, chemistry, computer science and engineering to focus on problems at the frontier of the life sciences. There are two types of HFSP postdoctoral fellowships: Long-Term Fellowships (LTF) and Cross-Disciplinary Fellowships (CDF). Both encourage early career scientists to broaden their research skills by moving into new areas of study while working in a new country. For further information visit the webpage. Canon Foundation in Europe Research Fellowships Each year, to contribute to International understanding between Europe and Japan, the Canon Foundation in Europe grants up to 15 Research Fellowships to highly qualified European and Japanese researchers. Candidates are required to have obtained a PhD or MA higher degree within the previous ten years. Exceptional candidates who obtained their qualification more than ten years prior to application will also be considered. Such candidates are required to provide further supporting information in their application. Non-nationals are required to have permanent citizenship in either Europe or Japan. Applications from all fields of research are welcome. European Fellows pursue a period of research in Japan and Japanese Fellows at host institutions in Europe. Fellowships are awarded for periods of at least three months up to a maximum of one year. Programme IFD - Science 2014 French-Danish scientific co-operation proposed by the Scientific Service at the Institut français du Danemark. Its aim is to foster French-Danish applications to the European framework program, and promote the development of scientific cooperation between universities and research institutes by providing support for emerging scientific collaborations between French and Danish research teams. The priorities for 2013 will be within the following fields: - Energy, climate and environmental research, - Micro- and nano- engineering, biotechnologies, new production systems - Health and food research - Information and Communication Technology - Research related to Greenland. Priorities are not exclusive; outreach towards a general Danish audience would be considered a plus. Applications are encouraged from newly established teams, from teams led by young researchers and/or for projects where there have been no previous collaborations between the teams involved. Please note that all applications must specify how young researchers will be involved.
