Erhvervsforsker projekt Adhesive Joints in Wind Turbine Blades 2014 1.0 mio.kr. The current design of adhesive joints in wind turbine blades lacks due to insufficient understanding and modeling of the failure mechanisms. The project focuses on developing new methods based on fracture mechanics in order to fully understand the failure mechanisms. It is the primary goal to develop generic models, which can represent a family of joints containing similar failure modes. Design rules should be established based on modeling and experiments, in order to improve the joint design. LM Wind Power & DTU Wind 29
Eurostars projekt Redox flow batteries - FlowPowerStorage 2014 3 mio.kr. VisBlue was established November 2014 as a spin-out company from Aarhus University. The core activities of the company is emerging from the research knowledge. VisBlue has unique competencies on how to optimise the performance of redox flow batteries towards energy storage. FlowPowerStorage aims at developing the first Vanadium Redox Flow Battery (VRFB) for local storage of PV electricity in residential buildings and launching the technical foundations for turning the proponent companies A total of 6 prototypes will be built and tested in locations in DK, DE and PT. The insights gained from the assessment of the VRFBs will be used to validate and improve the approach for future mass production of VRFBs.
