The Loew 2009 Sylvaner Racine Le Prefere de Mathilde is as usual the product of partly-shriveled, super ripe berries. A Semillon like meld of fig and lime, along with rich roasted chestnut and a hint of white raisin all beautifully supported by the sweetness inform a seductively creamy palate. There is a cooling wet stone and chalk sense underlying this whole performance and seemingly helping to keep the expression of sweetness from going overboard in the soothing if only modestly-long finish. This liqueur of Sylvaner handles its sweetness much more effectively than do the other renditions of this cuvee that I have tasted, and is probably capable of aging comfortably for more than a decade. 90 pts, Schildknecht, Wine Advocate maj 2011 Black Sheep Finds (Central Coast/USA) Black Sheep Finds er et lille familie projekt mellem Peter Hunken (Holus Bolus/Piedrassasi) og hans kone Amy. Richness born of concentrated blackberry fruit and hints of dark chocolate testify to this full-bodied wine's remarkable depth and convincing ways, and rather than turning to viscosity and dramatic tannin on the palate, the wine is polished, supple and amazingly well-mannered. To be sure, it has more than enough tannic grip, but it is fruit and composure, not boldness, that make the way here, and whether now or in five years, this one is bound to be a real joy to have on the table. René Langdahl Gastro: Årstiden passer til de lidt tungere vine, og jeg er så glad i låget over alle de amerikanske vinøse oplevelser, vi har fået til landet, indenfor de seneste par år. GoodGrape er en af de specialiserede importører. Med Rocca har de fat i et køligt hus ikke fordi der ikke sker noget, men mere fordi druerne vokser relativt køligt ved Stags Leap District og længere mod syd, øst for Napa City, hvor det tågede San Pablo Bay virkelig gør sin indflydelse gældende. Selvom Mary Rocca lægger navn til huset, er det ubetinget Celia Welsch Masyczeks kyndige hoved, som er den virkelige årsag til Roccas kvaliteter. Kanel, Kardemomme, bitter chokolade og sorte kirsebær er med til at give en overvældende duft af klasse. I munden udviser den overraskende syrefriskhed, selvfølgelig napa sk koncentration og styrke, men alkohol, frugtighed og tannin er fuldstændig i balance. Zinfandel lavet af en Pinot Noir Winemaker og det kan smages!. Det er kun anden gang Ed laver hans Zinfandel fra Buck Hill der ligger i Santa Rosa. Vinen er i stil med 07 eren der var et decideret scoop, men en anelse nedtonet, og det gør faktisk ingenting. Det er en frugt domineret vin, men med lethed og luftighed der går igen i blandingen af hindbær og blåbær, krydderi og fornem syre. Lavet i stil med Joseph Swan og Scherrer synes jeg. Virkeligt lækker og drikbar Zinfandel som man kan drikke flere glas af. 118 ks er der lavet.
Side 5 / 15 Kutch Kutch Block 7 Pinot Noir 2009: 125,- kr. Sidste newcomer i denne omgang er et scoop af en Sonoma Pinot fra Kutch, der på kort tid er blevet et vores mest eftertragtede Pinot huse. Det er ikke uden grund. Kutch rammer præcis i feltet af vine der placerer sig som en hybrid mellem moderne US Pinot Noir og old-world dyder. Meget balancerede og friske vine, med udtalt kompleksitet og med moden, lækker Sonoma frugt. En combo der virker, og virker endnu bedre hos Kutch end så mange øvrige. Block 7 er en nyligt tilkommen tilføjelse hos Kutch. Den laves med samme sans for detaljen og perfektion som den øvrige vin. Frugten er fra al den frugt der ikke bliver puttet I Kutch s øvrige vine, og der er fantastiske i09..så der er både McDougall og Falstaff i b.la.. Macauley Macauley Beckstoffer To-Kalon 2007: 550,- kr. To-Kalon Klassevin. Bliver bare bedre og bedre. Stor mark, stor årgang. Napa 1er Cru. Plumpjack Plumpjack Syrah 2007: 250,- kr. Robert Parker 2007 PlumpJack Syrah which also utilizes 35% whole cluster during fermentation, is not yet displaying the bacon fat and lard nuances, but it possesses a deeper, fuller-bodied mouth feel, a more extracted, richer fruit character, and sensational blackberry, lavender, and charcoal notes. This should turn out to be a brilliant Syrah to drink during its first decade of life. 93-95 points. With a whopping finish as well as great balance and purity, it should drink well for 20+ years. The small amount of Viognier included in the blend has resulted in an exotic floral character intermixed with notes of Allspice, black raspberries, black currants, and bacon fat. The incredibly complex aromatics are followed by a full-bodied, opulent, voluptuously textured wine with silky tannins as well as abundant characterand personality. It is a full-bodied, powerful Syrah displaying a flawless integration of acidity, alcohol, wood, and tannin. Enjoy this sensational effort now and over the next decade." Finishes perfumed and persistent, with rather suave tannins. A lovely cabernet franc bottling. (I preferred this wine to the drier 05, which I scored 90 points a year ago, but 89 in March.) Cool når Pinot-guys laver Cabernet. Ingen overekstration her, men balanceret og elegant vin. Bedrock Bedrock Sonoma Zinfandel 2009: 135,- kr. Ny stjerne i amerikansk Wine-Making. Forbløffende Zinfandel fra meget gamle stokke. The 2009 Syrah Sonoma Coast possesses refined, sweet tannins as well as lots of black fruits intermixed with notions of camphor, lard and forest floor, purity, a medium to full-bodied mouthfeel and a long finish. Parker 91-93 Sanguis Sanguis Acromion 2007: 300,- kr. Parker 91: The third white I tasted is the 2007 Acromion, which I previously reviewed in issue #184. A killer wine, this blend of 92% Roussanne and 8% Viognier spent 20 months in barrel, and had full malolactic fermentation. It possesses abundant notes of waxy, honeysuckle, orange marmalade, and tropical fruits intertwined with a buttery richness, and complex, full-bodied flavors. While it may be too much of a good thing for some readers, it is a distinctive, singular white wine to drink over the next 2-3 years although I suspect it has the potential to last longer. Rhône-Report 94: Coming from amazingly low yields and the top white of this report, the 2007 Sanguis Acromion, a blend that s predominantly Roussane, is reminiscent of Chapoutier s Ermitage Cuvee de l'oree with its massive concentration, stunning texture, incredible balance and blockbuster finish. White flowers, buttered bread and lemon curd aromas take some coaxing on the nose but the wine unfolds with air. The palate is medium to full bodied with a rich, thick yet pure, precise texture that carries into a very long finish. I think this is a stunning wine but with regards to aging, I ve not a clue. Sanguis Waxing Poetic 2006: 400,- kr. Parker 94: The 2006 Waxing Poetic was the finest wine in this tasting, perhaps because it is a year older and has had time to settle down and show its true personality. Made from 100% Syrah from the Watch Hill and Bien Nacido vineyards, it will spend 42 months in new oak. The wine exhibits a lot of spicy, peppery characteristics along with creme de cassis, licorice, cocoa, and white chocolate. Fullbodied and powerful with beautiful balance, sufficient acidity, velvety but noticeable tannin, and a long finish, this is a terrific example of a Central Coast Rhone Ranger that should drink nicely for 10-14 years. Rhône-Report 94: A blend of 100% Syrah from Watch Hill (62%) and Bien Nacido (38%), the 2006 Sanguis Waxing Poetic was aged for 42 months in 150% new French oak, before being bottled unfined and unfiltered. Dark and dense on the nose, with cooler climate aromas of peppered steak, hung game, leather, and edgy minerality, as well as loads pure black fruits, this takes some coaxing but opens up in the glass. Medium to full bodied on the palate with a ripe, round texture, solid concentration, beautiful precision, and a long, chocolate-laced, tannic finish, this should benefit from 2 to 3 years of additional bottle age, and then drink well for a decade or longer.

Parker 94 : The gorgeous 2007 Syrah Mr. Smith exhibits aromas of acacia flowers, crushed rocks, blueberries, and blackberries, a beautiful, well-delineated, vibrant mouthfeel, and refreshing, zesty length. It should drink well for 10-12 years. Arcadian Arcadian Stolpman Syrah 2005: 195,- kr. Kongevin. Skyhøj score fra Tanzer. Én af årgangens bedste. Tanzer: Bright red. Lovely, floral-dominated scents suggest fresh red berries, kirsch and Asian spices, with sexy rose and magnolia adding complexity; seems to expand in the glass while maintaining focus. Silky and packed with sweet red fruit flavors, picking up floral pastille and bitter chocolate character with air. A very grown-up style of syrah that finishes with superb clarity and persistence. This doesn't hit you upside the head, it hits you inside it. 94 points Rhône-Report 94: Clean and more focused than the Westerly Vineyard, the 2005 Arcadian Syrah Stolpman Vineyard has bright cassis and raspberry fruits, spiced meat, cedar and earth aromas on the nose. These carry lead into a medium bodied, perfectly build wine that shows fresh acidity, pure, clean fruit and a focused, long finish. Drink this beauty over the next 10 to 15 years. Parker 96 (NB Fadprøve): More tannin and earthiness are apparent in the 2006 Cabernet Sauvignon Ark Vineyard. Last year, this wine revealed considerable softness, but that has morphed into a more delineated, beautifully dense, full-bodied Cabernet with dazzling fragrance and glycerin in addition to an extravagant fruit character. It, too, should drink beautifully for 20 years. Tanzer 95: Good deep red-ruby. Knockout claret-like aroma of currant, tobacco, mocha, licorice and loam. Sweet and lush, with lovely energy and a distinctly rocky mineral character contributing to the wine's suave impression. Finishes firmly tannic, bright and spicy, with terrific persistence. Jayson Woodbridge started picking his home vineyard on October 12, ultimately making five passes through the vines. Parallel Parallel Cabernet Sauvignon 2007: 265,- kr. Èn årgang der bliver bedre og bedre, og med udviklingen på flaske en årgang man må regne med fremover. Vinen er som altid en blanding på Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc og Petit Verdot. I 06 er Cabernet Sauvignon andelen på 96 %, 4 % til CF og en knivspids Petit Verdot der giver midter-palleten kød og fylde. Det er en meget velafbalanceret vin. This serious, complex, dark ruby/purple-tinged 2004 Syrah reveals a lovely perfume of licorice, acacia flowers, ground pepper, cassis, and blackberries. A beautiful integration of wood gives the wine elegance as well as a savory character. With loads of fruit, an expansive mouthfeel, a silky texture, and fine balance, this lovely, nuanced Syrah should drink nicely for 5-7 years. 92 Points Robert Parker, WA 168, Dec 2006 Littorai Littorai Pinot Noir Mays Canyon Sonoma Coast 2006, Californien: 335,- kr. Fremragende...Winemakers note: Mays Canyon has a wonderful sweet, fresh lactic note of raspberries and crème fraiche associated with spice notes, rose petal and pastry dough. The mid palate is juicy and displays very lively acidity with moderately strong tannins. The acidity is second only to The Haven.
